5.0 out of 5 stars Durable and protects flooring
Tried this out on a friends suggestion and reading about plastic floor mats that seem to always crack after a while. This bamboo floor mat seems to be very durable and looks nice also. It is about 1/8 inch thick, so you want to get it big so that you don't roll off the edge while seated and moving; Although the edge thickness is rounded, so my chair rolls easily over the edge with out much of a bump or resistance. I also replaced the stupid hard plastic rollers on my chair with softer rubber/silicon type wheels. Much smoother. The old hard plastic rollers scratch up the hardwood floor a lot. The bamboo matt is in sections which unroll flat, but the section are barely noticeable when the chair rolls over them.
5.0 out of 5 stars Impromptu Yoga Floor
I have plush carpet in my exercise room that is lovely on the feet but not-so-good for yoga. I planned to tear it out and put down a wood floor but the carpet is new and it seemed such a waste. I went on Pinterest trying to find a solution that would be a bit less dramatic and costly and happened upon a man who makes plank floors for the very purpose. Given the idea, I searched bamboo rug and wala! This mat is the perfect size and has a good surface for sticking to the mat. It gives enough support to not allow my wrists to over-bend and rolls up nice and neat for storage when I want to do a different type exercise. While it still allows a bit of flex and is not a perfect solution, it is exactly what I needed to get me by. Give it a try! Good quality, perfect size, and attractive.
4.0 out of 5 stars Overall a positive product (except for one minor dent).
I saw this roll-up chair mat at a nearby Staples and I was so upset they sell it in a tan colour but not this dark cherry colour, so I found it on Bolo. It's more expensive on Bolo by ~$14 than at the Staple store though, I think maybe matching the price would be a little more appropriate. (Regular plastic mats at this size should be cheaper at around $45)To start, the package came on time and was secure in a long, tube like packaged box and wrapped inside with a bag over it. Upon opening it, I can very well tell how nice the quality of the material is, thick, strong, had a nice smell of fresh wood and slight rubber, and overall looked beautiful. Yes, it works perfectly fine on thick carpet but it would be more ideal for a thin type of carpet. Just by how it's designed on the bottom, it seems like it's perfectly fine to use on hard wood too with the cloth and rubber circles on the bottom of the mat.My overall review is positive with fast shipping, quality material, beautiful colour, and universal use on carpet or hardwood floors. One of the cons I experienced was the package being a little water damaged and that there was a bump scratched into the mat before I even got to use it. I opened it and I saw the bump. I'm kind of upset with it but I was thinking about how that eventually my office chair will scratch it up anyway so I just decided to ignore it. I wouldn't mind a refund since it's a pretty big bump but even if not, I'll still keep it.Picture 1: The mat I saw at Staples but in a different colour and a price at about $79.99 at 44" x 52" (with lip).Pictures 2 & 3: The mat I got yesterday with the damage/indent. I'm not super happy about it but it's fine I suppose.
5.0 out of 5 stars Large enough to actually be useful
I had a smaller one of these and it worked great but was just too small, I had to be careful not to roll off the edge. This is large enough that I can roll around st my desk and not roll off the edges. Its big enough that I forget that its even there but I don't have to worry about damaging my wood floors.
1.0 out of 5 stars Very nice looking but way too thin to last !!!
I read the reviews where the others stated that it started cracking and decided to give it a shot anyways, hey maybe it wouldnt happen to me right? I bought new rollers for my chair and recieved the mat which was very nice looking and it was going good for about 20 days and then a huge 12" crack formed so it was time to send it back. I really like the look of this bamboo mat and the idea is good but it is just too thin for even light use. I decided to put a plywood base under and give a new one another shot as i really wanted to make it work. During all this at my local hardware store i had decided to use engineered wood flooring slats and just tap it together instead, as it was eaiser than making a base for this mat and the cost of the mat and plywood combined exceeded the price for a little bit of laminate flooring. After a week now on the wood flooring i am wondering why i did not think of this to begin with. It is much easier to roll back and forth between my desk and filing cabinent and i dont have to wory about cracking or the mat sliding around. BTW the wood is flooring is not moving around at all, it is not coming apart, and i can take off my shoes and not wory about sharp cracks. Customers also comment on how nice the flooring looks behind my desk and all i did was lay it down and tap it together. Hope this helps you , thanks
3.0 out of 5 stars Board cracked
I've owner this product for about 2 months when one of the boards cracked under normal use.
5.0 out of 5 stars Nice looking
Love this. It is very rich looking and exactly what I was looking for
2.0 out of 5 stars Really is Dark Oak in color.
I wanted one of these for the computer desk, but many places had them listed for over $200, which is way stupid money. I got this in the other day, and it looks good. Be aware that is about three shades darker than the picture above. I will post an update in a few months to let you know if it holds up.Update 25 Sept 11 It does not hold up that well. Many creases and a few cracks. Now in all fairness, I am a 250lb guy. Perhaps for a person who weighs less, it might have held up better. However, I was in Loews and had a minor epiphany. When this thing tanks, I will get a half sheet of 3/8" plywood, and a box of that new lock together flooring. There is a large variety of colors and types of material available. I figure I can spend an afternoon and put together something much stronger for less than half the price I spent on this trash.
Excellent!
Very nice!
Exactly what we needed
exactly what we needed. Chair for computer was wearing the rug and this mat solved the problem. Wider slats are a plus. Solidly made.
Not bad
Looks terrific. Small computer chair wheels are hard to move from floor to rug.
