5.0 out of 5 stars Nice alternative to retinol
Using retinol regularly comes with a lot of contraindications. This is a nice alternative for those who would like to switch it up in that department. It's definitley a product that requires some time to see results so be patient. This serum is hydrating and a little goes a long way.
4.0 out of 5 stars 0.5% bakuchiol serum for PM use only with peptides and botanicals
This has 0.5% bakuchiol, and this was the concentration used in a study that showed promising results, similar to 0.5% retinol, in 12 weeks. However, the bakuchiol was applied 2x day, and I only recommend this serum for the PM. Why? This also has retinyl palmitate, and there is some controversy about whether this should be used during the day since it could have a negative effect in the presence of UVA. Even though the science is unsettled, very few established resources (like Cosmetic Dermatology: Principles and Practice) will recommend daytime use.The addition of a different product for AM use could get the bakuchiol back up to a studied amount, and this also has a small amount of vitamin C, some well-known botanicals, and multiple peptides, albeit the concentrations of those ingredients are not disclosed. All of those ingredients can help improve skin texture and appearance. This has bergamot oil and lavender extract. There is a very faint fragrance, possibly from those and other ingredients in this serum (it also has Japanese pepper and some citrus components), but most people won't be able to detect much. I can detect them but I also have to have my nose next to my skin (I tested on my hand) to smell it, and I have a sensitive nose.
5.0 out of 5 stars A little goes a long way
My partner likes how a few squeezes is all that's needed to spread across her face and neck. It sinks in quickly and doesn't leave her feeling like her face is caked on with product.
5.0 out of 5 stars I love that it's fragrance free.
Over time, I've become more interested in using skin care with Bakuchiol instead of retinol, since retinol has a tendency to make my skin sensitive. This is made in Korea. I've been using Korean skincare for the last few years, which has helped to improve the appearance of my skin over time. This feels light and moisturizing.I love that it is listed as fragrance free. Too often I get headaches from lingering scents in facial products. It mentions that it's pore minimizing, and it seems that it have given some mild improvement on my pores, although I'm unsure if this is a temporary effect that is only given by daily use, or if it made a long term difference.
5.0 out of 5 stars A marathon, not a sprint
The research surrounding bakuchiol is really interesting, and really promising! However, it's one of those ingredients that takes consistency over a long period of time to create lasting effects. It's a marathon, not a race. So while this product doesn't "feel" like it's doing much right off the bat, I know that I'm benefitting my skin in the long term! The product itself is nice on the skin. It's fragrance free and lightweight, works well with other skincare products, and absorbs nicely into the skin without any sticky residue. I look forward to continued use and reaping the long term benefits!
3.0 out of 5 stars Came with serum spilled
This took a while to reach me, and when it did, the container contained a bunch of goop smeared around the cap. Given how expensive this stuff is, it's not OK to just spill it in shipping. It comes in a cardboard box and there's a cap that goes over the pump. The stuff that was ejected into the cap still seemed usable, so I put it on my skin anyway. I think that it helps to moisturize, and maybe it helps my freckles to fade.
5.0 out of 5 stars The future in a bottle
I am so excited about the potential promises of these types of serums. I know they take a while to work but the studies are amazing! This seems to have worked on my husband much faster than it has for me so I'm looking forward to the same results that he's having. Smaller pores, plus some fine lines have already been reduced.
