The trickiest part of these was finding a good way to secure these to our steps. We ended up fabricating a solution with some auto body clips we had in the garage from a car project on a car we no longer own. ANYWAY...I wouldn't use these without physically affixing them to the stair treads, they're not thick rubber like commercial ones that just lie in place. The price point is not anywhere near the price of those thick heavy ones, either, so managing expectations is key. I do wish some sort of nylon or rubber washers that fit well with the integrated grommets would have been included. That would be my biggest suggestion. I plugged these into a WiFi outdoor smart plug, and I have it hooked up to a routine that is started with our morning alarm. By the time I get downstairs with our dogs, the frost is melted. We scheduled them to turn on in the middle of the night at the beginning of a recent snowstorm, waking up to clean steps was awesome!

I bought this item not sure how it would work. In all honesty, I did not have great hopes, but I was willing to try anything to keep my stairs. Free of ice. To my surprise, this product worked fantastically. Very impressed. Easy to use. Would highly recommend.

Heats up fine. Pads slip on my wooden steps. Defeats the safety factor if I or my dog slip on the stairs! Tried securing with cord but they still slip, even more than in pic. Have to reposition every time my dog or I go down the stairs!

I wired this to an electric adapter that only charged up when temps get below about 35 F. No snow yet this winter but the frost just disappears on and near these mats. Using on our rear steps. Sure wish I had bought two sets as these are no longer available. Had to order another brand to complete the job.
