5.0 out of 5 stars Good kit.
I purchased this to test for food, allergies, and it was very helpful. The testing procedure was easy and the turnaround on the results was very fast and descriptive. It has been very helpful. I use this information along with the information given by my allergist to formulate a plan.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating!
This test was informative and reasonably priced. I have a mostly healthy diet as plant-based, but I would still notice bloating or aches and pains that I knew I shouldn’t really have, so I wanted to understand more. While I’m surprised by the results and will at some point re-test, there were definitely items in yellow and red that are consistent staples in my diet - tofu, ginger & quinoa. Removing them I have noticed less bloating, which is helpful. I admit there are some things I don’t understand…why can I eat edamame (soy beans) but not tofu (compressed soybeans). I also would love to see gradation in the yellow and red range to know am I just over the border…or a full five-alarm fire. It did take about 2 weeks to get the test back, but the information was easy to understand and help you take positive action. While I haven’t tried other tests, I do recommend. I don’t need the expense of 23 and Me as it’s not about my family tree…it’s about me and how my specific body responses to the number one thing that impacts our health - food.
4.0 out of 5 stars Helpful for Vitamin Deficiencies
My husband and I did a lot of research before buying this, but found this product to be best in value for cost per items tested. Hair analyses do a better job than bloodwork of detecting vitamin/mineral deficiencies (for example, your body will draw calcium out of your bones because the calcium concentration in your blood controls so many things. This means a blood test won't reveal deficiencies until things get dire).Pros- Easy to understand- Valuable data (especially vitamins/minerals)- Good for optimizing healthCons- We did not receive our results for 2-3 weeks after shipping it, though this may be a result of sluggish mail rather than company lag-time.- No numbers provided in report; data is instead provided categorically. This makes it hard to compare results if we take the test again in the future.- A potential drawback of this type of test is that foods you eat frequently are more likely to be flagged as food sensitivities (maybe the irritation adds up more?), so that can make tests a little bit harder to interpret. Am I actually sensitive to almonds? Or is it just because I eat them daily? Does that mean I should start eating less?- website user interface is abysmal and requires multiple re-entries of log in information.- We ordered two tests, one with the add-on feature. Each had different log-in accounts, but somehow the company swapped ours (doing the add-on tests for the wrong test code), and curiously emailed both of our results to only one email address. This was fine for us (we would share our results anyways), but maybe something to note.Remember, these tests can only detect sensitivities (like if your gut can process it), and not allergies (like if your throat closes up).
5.0 out of 5 stars Helpful insight
I purchased this testing kit to gain a better understanding of how certain foods might be affecting my health. It was simple to use and the results came back quickly. While I haven't noticed any changes yet, the insights are valuable, and I plan to use them to adjust my diet in the future.
5.0 out of 5 stars Understanding My health Better
I recently completed the food intolerance test with Advanced Food Intolerance Labs, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience! The entire process was easy to understand and follow. The shipping was prompt, and all the instructions were clear and straightforward. The results were accurate, and I feel like I have a much better understanding of my health now. I particularly appreciated the detailed explanations provided with my results; they were incredibly helpful and informative. This was the most in-depth test I’ve taken, and it truly made a difference for me.Additionally, the customer service was excellent. They were responsive and helpful whenever I had questions, which made the experience even smoother. I was so impressed with my results that I decided to get a kit for my mother to test as well!Overall, I highly recommend Advanced Food Intolerance Labs to anyone looking to gain insights into their health.
5.0 out of 5 stars Improved my quality of life!
After researching several different brands, I chose AFIL for its extensive 1,000+ items tested. I am so happy I did this test as I had developed a histamine intolerance due to zinc toxicity. I love milk and drank it frequently but my results showed me that I have severe sensitivity to casein and Beta Lactoglobulin, a component of whey. Surprisingly, I am not sensitive to A-Lactalbumin, another whey component. Now I drink organic unsweetened Almond milk with some monk fruit sweetener. Also started taking a probiotic. You don't realize how important gut health is until you have an issue and start doing the research. Already feeling better. One thing I did not like about the results that it listed a number of cheeses that I am not sensitive to, not taking into account the fact that I have severe sensitivity to those casein and whey components aforementioned. Just take time and dissect your results. The turnaround time was fairly quick with about 2 days after they received my hair sample. Included is a postage-paid USPS envelope with tracking. The awareness is priceless as I am now able to avoid foods that make me itchy 24 hours after I eat them. It's only been a few days for me, but my quality of life has been vastly improved. I highly recommend this test and AFIL! =)
