The Stagg EKG Kettle: a story in three parts.1. I ordered the kettle from Bolo. It was ludicrously spendy for me, but so beautiful. Nothing else on the market comes close. And given the repeated heat waves in the Northeast this summer, I wanted a kettle that could heat my water for coffee without adding heat to the house. When it finally arrived, I unpacked it, ooohed and aahhed at the beauty, added water, plugged it in and.... nothing. No LCD, no heating, simply.. nothing. Sighing heavily, I assumed it was an anomaly and sent it back. I ordered a replacement version that same day.2. Take two: a few days later, the second Stagg kettle arrives from Bolo. Unpack, plug it in.... aaaaand nothing. Double check the plug, move it to different outlets, reset said outlets - finally, for reasons unbeknownst to me, the LCD lights up with "Fellows." But nothing further. (I've now hit the "on" button about a zillion times). So, in frustration I tweet, Facebook IM and send a message the Fellows Support folks on their website.The Fellows customer service rep got back to me within the hour, ***from his vacation*** to help me out. Said that definitely shouldn't be happening and said, "Please let me send you one directly from our warehouse." Asked for the Bolo order numbers, as he thought perhaps there is something in Bolo's handling that is affecting performance of the kettle.In the meantime, I've gotten Kettle #2 to actually heat water to the boiling point once (on the 100th try or so), so I message the CSR back and say "Maybe it's working?" Next attempt? The LCD said "no water" and refused to do anything. Back it goes. I returned to the CSR and requested a kettle direct from Fellows: I was happy to pay for a replacement kettle, but he insisted on sending it free of charge to compensate for my hassle.3. EUREKA! The third-time's-a-charm kettle arrived about 3 weeks ago. It has worked like a charm ever since the first minute. Heats like a dream, quickly, efficiently. Holds the temperature accurately to about 1 degree. Pours easily, smoothly and effortlessly. My husband (who initially scoffed at the price) is increasingly enamored of this kettle, and says frequently (sheepishly) how much he loves it. It is everything all of the 5-star reviews say and more.So, finally although I've had very good luck with Bolo over the years, my advice to you on this one is: go directly to the source. You won't regret it. And a very huge shoutout to Fellows support for A++ customer service!

The Fellow Stagg EKG Electric Gooseneck Kettle has been my trusty companion for five years now, and it's still going strong. This electric kettle is sleek, stylish, and all about simplicity. The gooseneck spout may look delicate, but don't let that fool you—it's sturdier than it seems.One of the best features is the easy-to-use temperature knob that lets you switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius, and it’s impressively quiet, even when boiling water in just four minutes. Whether you're into drip coffee or tea, this kettle's smooth, controlled pour makes it a breeze to use.However, I’ve noticed a little rust starting to form around the lid, which is something to watch out for. It would also be great if the cord could be coiled under the base for easier storage, but I get that keeping the base slim probably took priority.If you're primarily using it for coffee, it's hard to beat. For other uses, like filling up a big mug or pot, you might want something with a wider spout. But for five years, this kettle has delivered consistently and still looks as good as new on my countertop.

This is the second one of these I purchased because the first one only lasted about 2 years. However, I did give it 5 stars as it works well and being a tea drinker I like the fact you can set the temperatures a variety of degrees. The design does take time to get used to since you are pouring very slowly.

My old coffee kettle stopped heating water and I decided to upgrade to the Stagg EKG. Immediately after opening the box I was impressed by the look and feel of the kettle. But how does it work? Extremely well! My old kettle required you to press the "hold" button every time you placed the kettle back on the base to maintain heat. Not a big deal, but occasionally I would forget that step. The Stagg EKG automatically holds the temp at your desired temperature just by placing the kettle on the base, very cool! The Stagg also heats quicker and seems to maintain temp better than my old kettle. The spout is very accurate and pours a bit slower than my old kettle. The speed of the pour is neither a positive or negative, but it took no time to get used to and works great. The only gripe I have is the size. I make two 16 oz cups in one batch with a Kalita Wave 185 filter. I usually pour some hot water in a 16 oz thermos to preheat, and wet the coffee grounds before brewing. With my old kettle, I could do that and make a full batch of coffee with one kettle. The Stagg is slightly smaller, but I learned that after I pour water into the thermos and wet the grounds to just top off the kettle. By the time the grounds are ready the additional water is up to temperature, and the full kettle is the exact perfect amount for my coffee batch! I just pour until the kettle is empty and I am finished. In many ways, I would call the smaller size ideal, even though at first I looked at it as a negative. The screen and button look great and seem to be high quality, and the kettle looks great on my countertop!

Yes, it looks great on the countertop, so elegant that you won't want to put it away. (I wouldn't anyway, because I don't think it would stand up to much abuse.) It features 4-cup capacity, to the degree temperature control, a built-in stopwatch, and perfect flow for pour over coffee. And you had better love coffee, because that's all you'll use it for. The cost is significantly higher than others that do the same thing, but that's the price of being a coffee snob.
