Are these better than anyone else's? Of course not. Pretty much any tea ball is the same. But they have no flaws- the clasps work great, there are no loose wires poking out, they are not some weird metal that rusts and tastes bad. Perfectly good, normal tea balls.I gotta say, in reaction to the shockingly highly-rated review from some idiot who apparently doesn't have tea on their home planet... no it is NOT a design flaw that you can only fill a chain-style ball halfway (as opposed, I guess, to the ones on stiff handles, that open like scissors, so you could grab a full scoop out of the tea tin). YOU ARE ONLY EVER SUPPOSED TO FILL A TEA BALL HALFWAY, well, actually less than halfway. You need to leave room for the water to swirl through the tea so it can infuse properly. If it's jammed in there tightly, you won't get all the flavor out of the tea leaves. And keep in mind tea expands a lot once it is fully wet. You want to fill a teaball maybe 1/3 full in my opinion. Half full is the absolute maximum. This little 2" one I bought is only good for a single cup of tea if you like it strong, maybe half a pot of weak tea. If you want to do a full strength full sized pot or large thermos, you need to get a couple of them in there or pick the larger ball, maybe even put a couple of the larger balls in. Whatever you do, don't cram too much tea in each ball or you'll be throwing out your tea leaves with most of the flavor still in them not in your water!Personally I prefer to use a french press, seems to infuse more thoroughly plus I like to look at the leaves unfurling. But a glass carafe is bulky and fragile. If you are travelling or making tea at work then you need a tea ball, and these are a perfect choice.
5.0 out of 5 stars A good buy
I drink a lot of tea and wanted something reusable. I was using disposable refillable tea bags before and I was worried about my environmental effect as well as the cost.I checked these out and the reviews were hot and cold. So I took a shot. Ive had them now for over a month and use them daily for about five cups of tea a day so a decent amount of use.The balls are light mesh so they bend a little, but it doesnt effect use. They hold about a tablespoon of tea. Ive only hand washed them, so no idea if they hold up in a dishwasher. The clasp can be annoying because you have to line a little prong into the hole and then swing the clasp over to secure it. Sometimes it doesnt want to go in but you wiggle it and its fine. The hook that goes over the edge of the cup and chain is fairly sturdy. If you have thick walled mugs, you might need to bend it a little bit to fit, but so far most cups it has fit.Realistically, I can't complain. These are cheap, easy to clean, hold a decent amount, fairly sturdy, and they work well. I would buy again when these wear out. For the price, they are totally worth it. Cheaper than the disposable bags.
4.0 out of 5 stars Tea leaves escape
The shape of the item allows for easier cleaning, but small bits of tea leaves do escape. It’s difficult to drink the last 1/3 of a drink because of the tea leaf particles.
5.0 out of 5 stars Ball Envy
When they arrived my balls were cold, stuck together and squished as if someone stepped on them. I couldn't believe how aggressive someone could be with my balls. Surely, the shape was due to someone neglecting my balls. I was embarrassed by my balls but I decided to give them another chance. I spent some time thoroughly massaging my balls in order to get them to look as perfect as the balls I saw in the picture. I was jealous of those balls. I wanted my balls to look that way. I tried my best, but I still have somewhat lopsided balls. Despite their imperfect oblong appearance, my balls still function for their served purpose. I think I'll be keeping my balls in my sack with my other useful tools.
3.0 out of 5 stars Adjustments had to be made
When the tea strainer arrived it was washed and made ready for tea. The loose tea was packed in the bowl but the edges around the bowls were bent and the loose tea fell out when it went into the cup. I was able to bend the edges into place and make it a more firm seal and hopefully that will do the trick.
5.0 out of 5 stars Dispite what others have said it seals well!
Works great!Ok folks who say it doesn't seal good are lacking basic abilities to figure things out on their own. Here's the trick put the desired amount of loose tea into the ball close the ball. Do not clasp it right away look at the 2 mating faces you will notice a tiny gap. If you wiggle it side to side the gap will vanish now clasp it shut and use. Once you do it one time this way you will get it sealed every time without even looking at it
5.0 out of 5 stars Very easy to use.
I used it forMy making my fresh tea and I like the way it holds the tea leaves into the containers and not in my water.
4.0 out of 5 stars Great for tea
Only took a star away because the closure is tricky, otherwise this is great for loose tea. Once you get it closed there’s no issue of opening, it just to me was difficult to close sometimes
Using it daily
These stainless steel mesh tea balls are super handy for making loose-leaf tea. The mesh is fine enough, so no leaves escape into the cup, which I like a lot. It’s easy to use, but the latch could be a little tighter—it sometimes feels loose. Cleaning them is simple, but drying fully takes a bit longer. Make sure you don’t leave it in tea overnight, might get rust Overall, they’re a great choice for tea lovers who prefer reusable options over tea bags.
Useful for tea bags
Large size. Great to add a few tea bags for making ice tea.
