It's great for potato or mac salads. Good for sandwiches too. I grew up in the south but never had this. For some reason we grew up on Kraft and never knew anything different - what a travesty. I then moved and the mayonnaise to eat there was Best Foods aka Hellmans which is WAY better than Kraft. I lived on Best Foods for years but went on a quest for another mayo because my taste changed and I could barely eat anything with mayo - another travesty. So I researched and saw the top three in most top ten lists were Blue Plate, Duke's and Best Food's/Hellman's. There wasn't much info on the particular taste or why some preferred one over the other so I bought the other two. They are both great and here is why: Blue Plate is light, not light like diet light- blah! but light in flavor and in texture, milder than the other two, not as heavy as the others, it's great for sandwiches where you don't want your mayo overpowering everything else - an accompaniment. Duke's on the other hand - WOW! The first time I sampled it all I could think was potato salad. It's like all you need to do is just add potato and there's your potato salad. It's flavorful, thick but not disgustingly so. Nice tang and sweetness to it. It would be good for sandwiches too depending on what you're goin for - a nice hearty sandwich is perfect for this. My taste for Best Foods/Hellmans has come back so now I have all three mayo's. I would rate them from mild/light to thick/hearty in this order - Blue Plate (the salad), Best Food's/Hellman's (somewhere in the middle) then Duke's (the steak). For me when I feel all greased out and feel like mayo is the last thing I need but want something creamy on my sandwich I go for Blue Plate, I like to dip broccoli/brussel sprouts and asparagus occasionally in mayo so for that I use Best Food's and when I am craving some serious hearty richness I go for Dukes, especially in potato salad. Considering they are all relatively the same price and equally accessible via Bolo may as well just try them all for yourself.

I had heard about Duke’s mayonnaise for years, but never understood how it could possibly be much different than any of the other brands that people swear their loyalties to. Now that I’ve tried it I understand.I’m not a huge consumer of mayonnaise in general, but it is a really handy thing to have around and I tend to use it to round out salad dressings and marinades that are missing some umami/fat otherwise. Typically I would only use a little bit since I don’t want the finished dish to taste obviously of mayonnaise- either oily or worse, eggy. Duke's is honestly the only mayonnaise that I don’t mind using in larger quantities since it is so well-balanced in flavor on its own. Creamy, unctuous, just the right amount of tang to cut through its richness. Tasty enough to dip French fries into, honestly. The only other mayonnaise I’ve tried worthy of that praise is Japanese Kewpie mayo, but that’s more expensive and can be hard to find.Duke’s puts Best Foods/Hellman’s and Kraft to shame, IMHO. Those are fine used sparingly, but I would never want to feature their flavor in any way.

it's almost to the point where i will, whenever across my future that i might wish for a new friend, it's almost at the point where i will right-off-the-bat ask whether they like Duke's mayonnaise. i mean, my closest friends all prefer Duke's to other mayos! isn't that interesting? my girlfriend, SuperGirl, is from Lower East Side. i am from the Chesapeake Bay. Our best friend here in the PNW is from somewhere on some other continent. and We all will be ordering from the sellers of this product. They will get rich, even at the low price they are charging for this delicious mayonnaise, because We will happily tell lots of other people about Duke's mayonnaise.

Delicious and tangy mayonnaise that has a great mouthfeel. A little goes a long way. It's a bit "oilier" than mass-market mayonnaises, which can seem somewhat fluffy compared to this, but it's a good texture. Makes absolutely perfect tuna and egg salad, sublime ranch dressing with buttermilk, and a little of this mayonnaise on any sandwich elevates it to art. I think it perfectly balances the sour tastes with the sweet, and that wallop of creamy texture just closes the deal.I'd heard about this product for years but never got up the gumption to try it, but now I'm glad I did. My big concern is that now I don't want any other mayonnaise and can only buy it online because I live way outside its normal distribution area.Everybody's got different tastes, so I'll just mention here that I was a Hellman's fan already and can't stand Miracle Whip. I don't like a whole ton of mayonnaise on anything and don't tend to go through a whole lot of mayonnaise anyway. If you're like me, then you might like this a lot.

Game changer. Tastes so good. Was happy to see it this time in a big, regular mayo size bottle and not a tiny squeeze bottle. It's not cheap.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dukes vs. Hellmans/Best Foods

As a life-long Best Foods consumer, I've tried other brands, and they have always come up wanting. I stumbled across Duke's brand, while ordering from Bolo Fresh, and thought I'd give it a try.Dukes is a good mayonnaise and definitely a contender for the top spot on my list. I find it very similar to Best Foods/Hellman's. The consistency/thickness is similar and it has a nice tang to it. It's not sweet like some other brands of mayo. However, I still find myself preferring Best Foods. While making my lunch today, I tried Best Foods, just by itself, and the difference for my preference came to me. I could taste that it is saltier than Dukes. I checked the labels, and found BF/Hellman's has roughly 20 mg. more sodium per serving. Apparently, that is why I prefer this brand. To others, that might be a negative, but my tastebuds definitely prefer the extra salt.

    5.0 out of 5 stars I'm hooked.

Recommended by a family member and now I am hooked. A BLT just ain't a BLT without a little (or a lot) of Twang.
