5.0 out of 5 stars Great quality, great fit.
I used this on a 86 F260 with the 6.9 IDI diesel.I have a flatbed with no spare tire so access and fitment were easy. I had to modify my exhaust to make it fit, mine was a 5" that dumped over the rear axle. Just cut it off under the bed and ran it out in front of the tire.Kit comes with everything you need to install and lengthen the sending unit (minus the float extension) I used welding rod can't remember the size. Several videos/posts on YouTube and the forums to help you know what to do.
5.0 out of 5 stars Bolted right in to factory location.
Comes with longer bolts and sleeves, new sender seal and ring, pickup tube extension. The only thing you have to do is get a compression fitting and replace the 3/32" float rod. I used a coat hanger that was exactly 3/32 and bent it as needed. Also cut off the locating tabs on your sender. It works perfectly.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great product
Bought this tank for a 1989 f150 easy to install. Better than messing with the dual tanks.
5.0 out of 5 stars Not the most fun to install
I got this for my 94f350 and it fits great had all the hardware needed and looked great. This only thing I would highly recommend is get a set on the metal fuel line disconnect tools they will save your butt
4.0 out of 5 stars Will work on a 1993 ford f250 7.3 idi
I bought this for my 1993 Ford F250 7.3 idi.The interchange said that it wouldn't fit my truck, the only reason I found that it was different was only because the notches where the fuel level sender goes in were different.I fixed this by adding new cutouts. The conversion kit that comes with it is so so.I couldn't find a way to extend the return tube easily. The kit comes with bolts and spacers but the spacers were a 1/2" too short and I ended up adding washers to lengthen the spacers.I made a new fuel level rod with a coat hanger, it took some bending so that level sender went from full to empty.I also installed a 3/4 hose barb on the tank and the filler neck for a proper vent.I removed the insert inside the filler neck so it would accept a "big rig" nozzle and it fills fast.I filled it up in increments of 10 gallons(pics of fuel gauge).I run wmo and this will allow my truck to hold 60 gallons between the front and rear tank.Overall I love the added capacity from 18 gallons to 38 gallons. The conversion kit could be better. It was a lot of work but well worth it.If you need extra capacity this is still cheaper than buying portable gas cans.
1.0 out of 5 stars Was not a spectra 38 gallon fuel tank
Spectra tanks are made in Canada not tawain , tank came with dents and shipping box looks great, needed a tank asap but with the shape of this one , it’s junk!
5.0 out of 5 stars Came with mounting kit
Works great in my 88 F250 and it even came with the mounting kit and fuel sender adapter kit which I was not expecting.
2.0 out of 5 stars Quality control
So I got this tank very excited about it. 38 gallons huge upgrade. Took the bed off my truck took out existing fuel tank. Dry fit the tank to make sure it would go in. Cleaned and prepped tank painted it. Installed it. Turns out the fans for the sending unit was welded in on a skewed angle. Not the end of the world, but I will have to modify it to make it work. Three stars. Not very happy about their quality control. Love everything else about it. This tank even has one corner angled so that your exhaust can get by. Great design, poor quality control.
Good fit, bad ship
It fit properly in my 1996 f350, I had to trim the hitch mount flush with the frame on both sides to get it to slide inbetween the frame rails. The hardware to extend the diesel sending unit sucks. Don’t try to sodder it, use compression fittings and/ or some JB weld original. And use a proper butt connector & shrink tube for the sending unit wire. The tank was dinged and dented from shipping and the box was destroyed but the tank is built well. I painted it, but had to degrease all the oily junk all over the tank and wash it.
