I write this review in response to the guy who complained that the cable is from 1999.The cable is "SFTP" shielded, and this is printed on the jacket. Those letters stand for "Screened Fully-Shielded Twisted Pair."This is an improvement over regular phone cables because of three things.1. Pairs of conductors are twisted together to minimize crosstalk. This technology was invented by Alexander Graham Bell, so it much precedes the 1999 timestamp conferred by the other reviewer. it works by allowing both conductors of the pair to absorb the same amount of electromagnetic interference as one another from an adjacent source.2. The pairs are each shielded with foil. This is another means to keep electromagnetic interference from altering the signal transmitted across the pairs, and it dates back to Michael Faraday.3. All of the pairs (in this case two of them) are bundled and together wrapped in foil to further protect the integrity of the signals transmitted through them.None of this technology is groundbreaking, but the reason to use shielded cat 5e ethernet cable is simple: most phone cord doesn't go to such great lengths to protect the signal, while ethernet cable is designed with signal integrity in mind due to the greater throughput demanded by its applications. The connectors on this cable are very nice. Unlike most phone cords, they feature strain reliefs. The connectors are shielded, which is important for the foil shielding of the cables to work properly. At 7ft long, this cable may also be substantially shorter than the green DSL cable provided by your ISP. That is a good thing. If your green cable is bunched up and zip-tied, using a shorter cable ceteris paribus is an obvious way to reduce the voltage drop between your gateway and the ISP's DSLAM.This cable may not improve your connection if your internet is already working properly, but if you are having problems with your existing cable and/or you wish to spend a few bucks on a high-quality RJ11 cable for your DSL gateway, it is a solid choice. Don't worry about the year that cat 5e was introduced; cat 7 was introduced in 2002 but that doesn't mean 10GigE is obsolete. Focus instead on the problems you are having with your internet service and how to improve your connection by improving the weakest links in your setup.

Our office has had high speed Internet for years, mostly DSL thru Bell South now ATT. We were informed by ATT that it is phasing out DSL in our area and replacing it with Uverse. We upgraded. After the upgrade we had a lot of problems with our ATT Uverse router/modem dropping the signal. We had no fewer than 7 ATT Uverse technicians out to work on the problem over a 2 week period. They did considerable work on the outside lines eliminating what they called "bridge taps" and that improved things a lot. But we were still getting dropped from time to time, about once a week and it seems we were not getting the full speed we were paying for. One of the techs noticed that the cable supplied by ATT with the router/modem (a Motorola NVG510) was not a shielded cable and that as installed in our office the Uverse cable from the jack in the wall to the router/modem was in what can only be described as a "spaghetti junction" of other cables feeding the phones, computers, printers and so on. To minimize interference from the other cables we bought this cable off Bolo and installed it to replace the unshielded cable that ATT supplied. We have gone over 90 days now and been dropped off the Internet by Uverse only 1 time, which is great (originally we were getting dropped 2 or 3 times per day, then 1 or 2 times per week, now after this cable and the other fixes mentioned only 1 time in over 90 days). We are also now getting almost the full Uverse speed we pay for (we pay for 12,000 kbps and are actually getting 11,997 kbps). While I cannot say this cable alone solved all our problems as many of them were located in the lines outside our building, I can say as we got the outside line problems fixed this shielded cable helped eliminate our remaining problems involving cross interference from our other cables and helped further reduce our drop rate and help us get the full Uverse speeds we paid for. Not a magic bullet, but it certainly helped. Very pleased.

C2G/Cables to go 28721 RJ11 High- Speed Internet Modem Cable 7 Feet. I wasn't sure about this but decided to give it a try. It did fit the old landline plug on my wall and the DSL Broadband plug on the back of my U@ Modem. Same size as the old landline. It seemed to increase the speed of getting my Modem back online after having to unplug it, and my wi-fi isn't as spotty as it was. It has work for me, so far. I don't know how durable it is as I have it plugged in for just under a Month. This replaced the green AT@T data cable that came with the U@ Modem.

I needed a replacement Rj11 to go from the wall to my Uverse gateway modem. The green one At&t provided me with was ok but was cheap and typical and I felt wasn't providing the modem with the best signal. I was getting 37 Mpbs download and 7 upload with the old cable. However, after I ordered this cable and replaced it the speed jumped up now i am getting a full 43Mpbs download and 8 upload. I never was one that bought into the whole gold plated theory or any of that extra shielding gimmicks on any cable but I do believe when it comes to regular phone wire it can pick up interference if you have a bunch of other power cables near that can affect performance. I think of it this way, back in the day with regular telephones that were wired if you were near an electrical appliance you would hear a buzz on the phone. It is the same concept with your modem and this cable fixes that. You can't beat the quality for the price I do recommend this to others.

    Working great

Increased Upload speeds, Stability and Lowered Latency

    F. · November 4, 2019

Well, I'd been having issues with latency, stability and uploads with my VDSL connection since the beginning of summer. I was losing sync every week, sometimes, several times per day with lag issues. Quick history: I had the 28AWG modem wire that came with the modem plugged, which worked fine, but, then changed it for a 25ft flat jack-modem RJ11 cable when I moved the modem to a better location; believe it or not, everything was ok in the beginning, but over time my connection got worse. I complained many times to my ISP, but, after changing the "profile" several times, the problem just persisted. After reviewing reasons for my sync problems, I decided to get this cable based on the many reviews that guided me here. I really didn't think a cable would have made that much of a difference ... but it did ... no more sync losses, upload speed increased from 2.8Mbps to about 4.2Mbps, with peaks at 8Mbps), and yes, still holds my downloads at 25Mbps solid ... but, where it's become very noticeable, is on the latency ... gaming hit registration are MUCH better. I thought the cable was a little expensive ... BUT, it has brought happiness to my life in the frag department while holding sync watching Prime Videos with the wife.

great cable.a must buy for broadband users.

    Worth it

    G.H. · February 11, 2021

I used it to replace a standard phone cord thinking it would make no difference on my interbet speed or bandwidth and boy was I wrong. Over the last several weeks, i and my family, have noticed improvements in our internet speed and reliability. This was confirmed with multiple speed tests showing a drop in my ping and increases in my upload and dowbload rates for every test. I am now thinking of replacing all the phone cord from my modem right to where the pho e line comes into the house with this cable for even bigger improvement. Worth the extra money!
