I cannot have an air conditioner as i have the wrong shaped windows so i thought after reading the reviews I would buy this.WELL its superb my flat is small 1 bed, 1 kitchen 1, lounge and a small bathroom - air cooler is in the lounge ( south facing) i have my curtains shut and the patio doors and whilst its 30+ degrees on my decking its a lovely cool 21 degrees indoors! It works superbly cooling the whole flat and i always know when its the correct temperature as my Guinea Pig girls dont sleep all day they eat and play and they are very happy!I have 1 ice pack in the water tray with fresh water ( ive been replacing it every other day but i am OCD) - easy to clean out and throw old water away just by unclipping the pump. I generally have it on for about 30 mins on cooler setting x 1 and on swing fan and this cools the flat down nicely. Then i just turn it off and have a normal fan on until i feel the need to cool off again. Its not overly noisy ( i had an air conditioner once and its quieter than that). On wheels so easy to move around the flat and not heavy. Great to have a remote control too.My lounge is 6 x 8 metres but the sun hits the back of the flat from sunrise until 1530 so as you can imagine it gets extremely hot in here - this little gem has helped and dare i say it - its my buy of the year!5 Stars.

PROS: Solid build, light, reasonable size and good looking appliance. Blends in the corner of any room. Simple and easy to use control panel and remote control which options are mirrored in 100%. Nice tinted display panel with soft blue backlight. Powerful fan even in the lowest 1st setting, 2nd & 3rd fan speeds are very strong. The partly removable back tank and ease of adding water and ice packs to it are the best feature comparing to competition, front water level visor is nice touch as well. Wind output temperature is very pleasant and with 2 small ice packs and half tank of cold water I’ve measured air flow at low fan speed at 21.8°C (photo attached). I’ll experiment with more ice packs later on. Do not expect 8°C to 12°C air output / flow temperature like in A/C unit as it’s not the case. You can also switch off “cooler” setting and just use it as powerful fan which is superb! 8 hours timer, swing - vertical (auto) and horizontal (manual) louvres are great. Humidifier and Ion modes appear to be working ok too. Unit is very higenic as the tank can be removed completely & cleaned very easily by safely releasing the small tank pump (held only by 2 screws). This is very useful feature if you want to keep the air flow and room free from odour as after some time if tank won’t get cleaned water will aventually get slimy...CONS: Unit is noisy even on the lowest fan and user mode settings. I guess it’s the price for that powerful fan. As it goes for use in the rest of the house and especially in large living room it’s awesome and then you really appreciate how strong the fan is. The only unnecessary features I’ve noticed so far in this unit are the 2nd & 3rd operating modes “natural wind” and “sleeping wind”. In my opinion all that happens when you turn them on is the starting and stopping of fan at irregular intervals which is actually very annoying and distracts you when you try to relax. For me the first mode “normal wind” is the best mode with most consistent sound and I stick to it as after couple of minutes you stop noticing the fan and just enjoy cool air. I recon that if designers would think it over a bit more and slow down the fan speed to almost silent running in the “sleeping wind” mode this appliance would be near to perfect design.Overall I think it’s a good value for money in this price range and if you are not bothered by a bit noisier fan and sound of dripping of water from the rear evaporator in to the tank which is noticeable especially when the Humidifier mode is on. If you don’t mind this noise then this air cooler unit may be what you are looking for. Regards.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cooling Relief!

    L.M. · 15 July 2023

Oh what a relief it is to have a cooling fan! Most of the time I only use the low setting, but the higher settings give a powerful blast of cool air. It's not like 'air conditioning' but certainly the next best thing!Being disabled I needed something easy to use. This is. I use several ice packs with just sufficient water to keep the levels within the marked range. I remove them and replace with other freshely frozen packs when needed. It's a sizeable bit of kit but on wheels and for someone with normal mobility would be easy to manouvvre. I just love it.... did I mention... such a relief!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Practical solution during a heat wave

    J. · 29 June 2020

We already have a similar but much older evaporative air cooler in the bedroom and a portable air conditioner. The air conditioner has been used in the lounge and it is very effective but it is noisy and uses much more electricity than the evaporative coolers. In addition venting the portable AC is not very convenient. I bought this cooler to use in the lounge knowing it would be less effective than the AC but more convenient, quieter and cheaper to run.It looks good, runs much quieter than the older one and and uses very little electricity. It also does a reasonable job of cooling the room. Time will tell how reliable it is but so far very happy with my purchase. As an aside, the portable AC is now being used in the summer house.

2.0 out of 5 stars Horrid plastic smell when used to cool

    M. · 3 August 2019

The problem with this unit is that when it is used as a cooler it throws off a horrid plastic smell. You add water and the cool packs to the base which cools the air, however it also makes the air smell bad! I tried running it for a while but the smell remained. The room also didn’t cool down much either! It works well as a powerful fan but given its size it’s far too large and expensive to be bought as just a fan!
