  • Includes all the difficult to source components such as a axially magnetized cylindrical magnet, germanium diode, and a high impedance piezoelectric crystal Earphone / ear piece with a ceramic element
  • Covering the last chapter you will venture into some of the most fun and exciting experiments such as No Radio, No Solder, No Power where you build a crystal radio that tunes AM stations without electricity and Tabletop Power which generates alternating current (AC) with a magnetic field through a coil of hook-up or upgraded enamelled magnet wire
  • Features a Arduino Uno R3 Programmable Microcontroller Development Board (original socketed ATmega328 DIP version) with a USB cable to allow easy programming through the open source integrated development environment (IDE)
  • Discover digital logic, program analog and digital inputs, control circuit outputs, learn basic programming skills using functions from the C computer language by creating and controlling real world gadgets like a thermostat or go beyond exploring robotics by creating robots using your Arduino to bridge the gap between hardware and software

5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality

Arrived ahead of time and pleasantly surprised at how well thought out the kit is. The various components are neatly bagged, labelled and stored in their own compartment. Haven't had time to use the kit yet, but can already see that the storage box could well have a very useful life of it's own once the components have all been used.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent customer service and product

Exactly as described, arrived earlier than expected, packaged well and un damaged, fantastic kit to work alongside the Make: Electronics book by Charles Platt. Have to give 5stars to ProTechTradar having e-mailed them regarding 1 or 2 queries they were extremely helpful and rapid in there response extremely pleasant and seem to put an emphasis on excellent customer service and I look forward to dealing with them again.

This kit complements the Make: Electronics book perfectly, covering the experiments from the initial 11 chapters, with extra components to last you for the whole book.I got the deluxe version which includes the multimeter. Unfortunately my multimeter broke very early on, but the distributor was really good at providing two reasonable solutions to the problem. The product would have got 5stars if it wasn't for this item fault. This kit has literally everything you need to get started, and saves you time and money. I cost it against getting my own bits of equipment for the book and it was cheaper buying this kit and much less time consuming. It arrived on time and in excellent condition.I thoroughly recommend the kit. I will be getting the next two kits soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for needs, very reasonably priced

I bought this kit as I was new to Electronics and didn't want the hassle of sorting out components myself. I'm very glad I did - it arrived with the book (separate purchase) so I could make a start right away and everything was provided and clearly labelled. All the parts used so far have worked. For kits 2 and 3 I thought I'd buy the components separately myself and spent considerable time on the Internet sourcing them from various places. I can tell you now it isn't worth it, so all that time and effort was wasted as I just bought the additional kits instead in the end. They appear to be very reasonably priced and I could only have saved around £20 for my hours and hours of effort. I accept some people will think that the £20 would cover the cost of wire strippers, soldering iron etc. However, there is a discount code in kit 1 that gives you 15% off each of the other kits so saving about £30! Some of the bits are hard to source as well. My recommendation is don't bother, just buy the kits using the coupon.I did need to contact ProTechTrader and their customer service is excellent.I can highly recommend this kit to get you going.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent

Contains the necessary components - plus extra - for experiments 1 -11 of Make:Electronics. You will need some other pieces of equipment (e.g. wire cutters) for experiment 7 onward, but these are generally just things you'd have in a toolbox. The components match up almost identically to the ones shown in the diagrams of the book so you can follow visually with ease. Without this kit I wouldn't have really known where to start. As I come from the UK, the postage and packaging fee did initially put me off (£27, which is over $30), but after comparing the total fee to the fee when I tried to buy everything separately, it still came out cheaper, as otherwise there was separate orders with separate p&p - it saves loads of time and effort as well. There was a small issue, where an invoice for the transport was sent to me, not them, but when I contacted them about it, and sent pictures of the invoice, they paid it, and came back to me quickly with the receipt.Well worth the buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great almost complete kits. Take the hassle out of trying to source them from desperate sellers

Strong carry case like packaging. Well labelled components. I am Hoping to brush up my knowledge of basic electronics to try and help my grandkids learn.

A lot of care and thought has been put into producing this kit so that the components match the requirements of the experiments in the Charles Platt book. If I had to source these components individually I think I would have wasted a lot of unnecessary time and money. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A perfect complement to the Make:Electronics book

Arrived very quickly with all items as advertised.

saves time when going through the book

    G.D. · 11 December 2021

It probably costs slightly more than buying the components on your own, butgetting the kits gives them to you in one shot and it's well labeled and easy to findthe stuff while doing the experiments in the book.

Great product. Must have with the book.

Well packaged and labeled supplement to the Make Electronics book!

    Thank you.

It goes well with the book. Thank you.

Nicely done, no tedious and distracting looking for parts. Let's get to the hands on exercises!

    P.P. · 5 September 2017

Well that saved me a lot of time. I encountered the "Make" series and looked forward to renewing some electronics skills I developed with NRI years ago. I wanted to enjoy the experiments but not with the tedium of tracking down the parts. This kit has everything, it's clearly labeled, and it's obvious a lot of preparation went into this product. Now I'm renewing the interests of my youth without concern that the experience will be interrupted by looking for components. This kit is also an excellent example of how to organize components. I look forward to more of the "Make" experiments in the future and doing additional business with the fine folks at ProTechTrader.

I was disappointed that I only got one green LED and one ...

You are paying a premium for convenience. To me it seems a bit overpriced. If you added up the costs for the parts you are paying full retail. However, if you ordered off the web, you would probably pay near the same amount because you couldn't buy just one or two. You would have a bunch more components , though. The first kit made sense due to you getting started, but once you have the first kit, the second is a bit redundant as many of the parts are reusable. I don't think I will buy the third and source or scavenge those parts myself.I was disappointed that I only got one green LED and one yellow. To make this a better kit, more redundant parts are needed, especially if the individual parts are untested. You should combine the 2nd and 3rd kits and just add a few extra resistors to cover usage. It would be a better deal for the customer.Seller replied by sending me a few extra components. They said they are factoring in responses to make the kits better value to the customer. I upped the star rating based upon the dedication to customer service.
